NPSS was sanctioned a project for establishing Kisan Vidyalayas (Farmers' School) in Moradabad division of Uttar Pradesh by Director of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh, during February-March 2007.
The farmers' schools are aimed at:
- Developing effective and efficient system for the farmers to farmers extension
- Solving local/existing problems of farmers with the help of progressive farmers
- Liasioning with different line departments and agriculture universities/Krishi Vigyan Kendras and other related institutions for conducting research and development works
- Providing training to farmers in agricultural practices
- Promoting indigenous technical knowledge across the field areas
NPSS established 13, six and six (total 25 Kisan Vidyalayas) at one Nyay Panchayat of each block in Moradabad, Rampur and Jai Prakash Nagar Districts of Moradabad division within a span of two months. The Kisan Vidyalayas have been registered with the Registrar Societies and Chit Fund UP, under Societies Registration Act, 1860. The registration certificates have been handed over to each of the Vidyalaya Samiti.
The samitis have been provided knowledge about the improved agricultural practices. They have been helped in solving their local/existing problems and establishing contacts with related departments. They have been provided a platform at block/village level for ensuring participation in research and development actions.
