NPSS has undertaken the project for assisting the aged persons about their rights and facilitate the availability of various facilities through HelpAge India-PACS Programme in 100 villages of Nawabganj and Hasanganj blocks of Unnao district.
The main objective of this programme is to sensitise the society and advocate for rights of aged persons, motivate people for eliciting cooperation, include problems in the activities of social organisation and motivate them to take advantage of various welfare schemes and do advocacy for their rights at local, state and national level.
Achievements
- Awareness meetings organised in all the 100 villages four times wherein a total of 21,800 (males 12,254 and female 9,546) persons participated
- 12 puppet shows organised wherein 5,150 persons participated
- Rally on World Older Persons Day taken out at Lucknow where in 71 persons participated
- Awareness rally organised at Hasanganj block where in 141 persons participated
- Awareness rally and meeting organised on International Women's Day at Nawabganj block where in 114 older persons participated
- All the 20 vridh mitra representatives and 40 vridh sangh representatives trained thrice and twice respectively
- Participatory research done in 40 villages
- Pamphlets and calendars prepared, published and distributed
- Developed, published and circulated four quarterly News Letters titled Jagriti
- Vridh Sangh meetings with block level officials conducted and presented charter of demands
- Presented charter of demands for 1,872 persons on social security to the district magsitrate
- Facilitated the field visit to Katehru village and organised meeting of Vridh Sangh, Vridh Mitras with Siddharth Pandey, Programme Manager Help Age India
- 3,008 old age pension forms of eligible persons submitted
- 822 old persons received their pension, 608 persons benefited under Antyodaya scheme and 85 persons benefited under Indira Awas (total 1,151 persons)
